A Little Bit About Me...
My name is Marie Hickerson, I am a Web/Graphic Designer. I was first introduced to the world of graphic design in 2006 and haven’t looked back since. I am very blessed to be doing what I love….design!
I earned my Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design with a minor in marketing at Saginaw Valley State University… Go Cardinals! While at SVSU my passion for design grew to include web design. I really enjoy being able expand my designs to include web design while helping clients to gain an online presence for their business. The design side of me understands how important first impressions are to potential customers and you must have visually appealing material to draw them in. The marketing side of me also knows there is more to gaining business besides just a good looking website. A good focus on Search Engine Optimization to help clients show up in search engines and maintaining a consistent marketing plan with social media is important as well.
Before earning my Bachelors Degree I received my Associates Degree in Graphic Design from Oakland Community College. At OCC is where it all began. I was introduced to graphic design and knew right away this was for me. I started freelancing almost immediately. I couldn’t wait to join the many other freelancers who are doing great work and enjoying every part of it.
For down time I spend my time enjoying the outdoors. Whatever gets me outside, I am up for it. From hunting, fishing and hiking. My biggest outdoor passion is bow hunting. However, even when I am deep in the woods sitting in my tree stand I can not get away from thinking about design. Sometimes that is where I come up with some of my favorite design ideas… until that big buck comes along.
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
